Futon are not so much 'east meets west' as a head on car
crash of cultures. Sultry infectious Vocals come courtesy
of sexual terrorist Gene, Momoko tweaks the keyboard while
satanic boygirl Bee thrashes out the guitar. Thai soap star
and sexy siren Oh is plugged into the bass, whilst former
Suede drummer Simon keeps the backbeat burning. Their Debut
album, ‘Never Mind The Botox’, released late
2003,catapulted the band to the attention of the British
music press whilst follow-up ‘Love Bites’ honed
their sound to perfection, capturing the frenetic buzz of
their live shows. With Tim Simenon producing their imminent
third album ‘Painkiller’ and the buzz on their
live shows reaching boiling point, things are be about to
go interstellar for Futon |

shoegazer, noise pop, bliss rock, ambient soundscapes, electronica,
rock…and Astreal is the name that immediately comes
up. Playing a myriad of venues such as LASALLE-SIA College
of the Arts and the Singapore Youth Park to clubs such as
Zouk, The Hard Rock Café Singapore, Bar None and Home
Club, Astreal has come a long way since forming in 1992. Their
noteworthy appearances include Baybeats 2003, 2004 and 2006,
the last of which saw the attendance of over 80,000 people.
Not your average rock outfit, highlights of their rise to
popularity range from their impressive opening for Australian
indie rock band Screamfeeder, their latest album “Fragments
of the Same Dead Star” being reviewed as the best local
release and having their song ‘Stay Awake’ aired
on the legendary UK-based John Peel BBC radio show. |

melodic guitar-based rock n' roll with great pop hooks and

between lush, mellow textures, funky grooves, driving feet-tapping-happy
rhythms and frenzied rock explosions. A chart-topping No.
