Q 1. How many years has ZoukOut been running?

ZoukOut started in 2000 and this year is its 9th instalment

 

Q 2. Who organizes ZoukOut?

ZoukOut is organized by Zouk, Singapore's 18 year old dance music institution, responsible for helping shape the dance music scene in South East Asia, bringing electronic music to Singapore and continuing its proliferation.

 

Q 3. What is ZoukOut?

ZoukOut is a dance music festival that takes the spirit and team of Zouk beyond the four walls and to the great outdoors. It is a multi-sensory experience and the largest party of its kind in South East Asia; always boasting a stellar lineup of international A-list acts across various genres, it has become the de-facto "must go" dance music event for party revelers from all around the region.

 

Q 4. How many people attend ZoukOut yearly?

In 2008, ZoukOut saw its largest turnout of 26,000 in attendance, an increase from 23,000 in the previous year, with numbers increasing every year since the first instalment in 2000 that had 9000 in attendance. 30- 35% of the total turnout come from around the region, mainly from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong and also as far off as the United States. ZoukOut 2008 saw a large increase in visitors from Australia, India and Europe.

 

Q 5. Where is ZoukOut held this year?

ZoukOut will be held at Siloso Beach, Sentosa, for the 5th year running. Please note that it is a rain or shine event. Swimming is strictly prohibited during the entire event.

 

Q 6. How much did ZoukOut cost to stage this year?

With bigger lineup and rising costs, ZoukOut is costing more than $2 million to stage this year.

 

Q 7. What is fresh at this year's ZoukOut?

This year's ZoukOut promises more debut acts, with a focus on new visual and lighting technologies, all to add to the overall experience.
 
For the first time in Singapore, there will be a surprise showcase of customized laser show, featuring fireworks and the most powerful laser in the world.


Incorporating Wave House as part of the ZoukOut venue will add a new dimension by increasing the numbers of stages from 3 to 4, and offer party revelers a whole new festival ambience and an additional range of exciting fringe activities, with the chance to try out their new wave pools on that night.
 
Another highlight is the launch of the international release of ‘Defected In The House: ZoukOut Singapore ‘10’, 2-CD mixed by Zouk’s very own resident, djB and Defected Records’ head honcho, Simon Dunmore. Following the successful release and sell-out of ‘Zouk in the House’ in 2008, Zouk is collaborating with Defected Records, a key player in the international dance music scene, once again to launch this special international release!
 
Also, besides the stellar electronic music line-up, ZoukOut 2009 is going unplugged, featuring mellow tunes and more feel-good vibes with the showcasing local live acts.

 

Q 8. What is Mambo Jambo? (One of the Arena's is called the Hip Hop/ Mambo Jambo Arena)

Mambo Jambo essentially encapsulates the best Top 40 hits from yesteryear till now, with an emphasis on the 80's.
Having earned a cult following since its introduction in 1992, Mambo Jambo on Wednesdays at Zouk remains Singapore's most successful weekday party and as such is deserving of an honourable place in the festival.


Q 9. How can I find out about the line-up/ DJ timings for ZoukOut?

The festival's timetable will be given out at the venue at the entrances, with giant timetables scattered around the venue. For more information or updates, please check the website www.zoukout.com regularly.

 

Q 10. Who can attend ZoukOut?

All are welcome, be it partygoers with a keen taste in dance music or just those who have an affinity for dancing under the skies with sand beneath their feet or those who love the whole festival experience. However, please note that the minimum age of entry is 18 photo ID is required.

 

Q 11. Can I take pictures/ videos at ZoukOut?

Non professional photography is permitted. Only accredited media may take professional shots.
Videography is not permitted and entry will not be allowed to those carrying professional video equipment unless accredited.

Tickets are available from 23rd Oct at the Zouk ticketing booth or through phone bookings.

There are 3 tiers of tickets available ranging from $48-$68.

Q 14. Are the ZoukOut tickets sold online?

Yes, tickets can be bought online at www.sistic.com.sg.


If you are coming from overseas, you may also purchase special ZoukOut travel packages from your nearest STA Travel agency or our online travel partner ASIATRAVEL at www.asiatravel.com.

 

Q 15. Can ZoukOut tickets be sent overseas?

All tickets purchased online will have to follow pick up instructions given on the site. Tickets purchased via phone/fax booking will have to be picked up at Zouk's reception, before 3am on 12 December.

Q 16. Will the club, Zouk, be open during ZoukOut?

The entire Zouk complex will be closed during ZoukOut.

 

Q 17. Are pets allowed at ZoukOut?

Pets are not allowed in the venue.

 

Q 18. What cannot be brought into the venue?

Food/ drinks purchased outside the venue are not allowed.
No weapons or items deemed to be a threat (at Security's discretion) will be allowed.
All baggage will be checked before entry.

 

Q 19. Are they any baggage counters at ZoukOut?

There will be a limited number of coin lockers for baggage.

 

Q 20. Lastly, what should I bring to ZoukOut?

Bring your ID, cash for drinks and food to keep you going and most importantly, an open mind! Be ready to be blown away by the electrifying acts, fun activities and just enjoy the region's biggest dance music festival!
